British Embassy starts processing new style biometric visas

03 April 2007 [07:22] - TODAY.AZ
The British Embassy in Azerbaijan will start processing new style biometric visas from 3 April.

With the exception of Government Ministers, all applicants must present themselves at the Visa Section to facilitate the collection of biometric data.

In December 2006, Colin Wells (Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy) announced the introduction of new biometric British visas in Baku.

All visa applicants will be required to present themselves to the Visa Section at the Embassy to allow for biometric data collection to be made. This takes the form of electronic finger printing and takes only seconds to complete. It is also harmless.

Some categories of applicant are not required to provide biometric data. These include senior Government Ministers and children under 5-years old. A full list of exceptions can be found on the British Embassy website www.britishembassy.az. The British Embassy has no flexibility to consider individual cases who do not fall within these categories. APA
