MPs to monitor Armed Forces

Parliamentarian Ganira Pashayeva has proposed to establish a working group for investigating the problems in the Armed Forces.

She said that the government has allocated funds to the army and it is necessary to control it.

The parliamentarian said two Azerbaijani soldiers have been captured, but the Defense Ministry conceals the fact. Ganira Pashayeva said that it is necessary to create conditions for the parliamentarians to go to different military units.

"MPs can prepare and present the reports after observing the real situation in the army," she said.

Speaker Ogtay Asadov said that the parliamentarians visit military units when necessary. "But we are not auditing commission to inspect the army," he said.

Igbal Agazadeh and Panah Hussein stressed the importance of taking urgent measures concerning the students of Independent Azerbaijan University.

They said that their hunger strike lasting for 35 days may have tragic results.

Igbal Agazadeh said he is worried that the crimes committed against journalists have not been revealed.

Yagub Mahmudov stressed the importance of reviewing the law "On freedom of religion". He said that missionary work is widely spread in most regions of the country, especially in the northern regions, APA reports.
