What is Rubik’s team hoping for?

Ruben Vardanyan’s lawyer, Siranush Saakyan, held a briefing today, where she joyfully announced good news: it turns out they have filed a complaint with the ECHR. And not just a complaint — there’s already a result!

"Our complaint has already been assigned a registration number!" the lawyer stated.

The audience didn’t break into a standing ovation, and they should have. This isn’t just some minor thing — they’ve been given an actual registration number. And not just any registration, but a registration.

So, they’ll be discussing it. And the fact that the discussions will lead nowhere is just a minor detail.

But seriously, the ones who stand to benefit the most from the situation are Vardanyan’s numerous — and not entirely selfless — defenders. Both the lawyers and others are well aware that Rubik’s prospects are virtually non?existent, and even less so in the ECHR.

They understand, but they continue to feign intense activity as long as the family of the fugitive Armenian convict is willing to pay for it.
