By Ulviyya PoladovaEconomic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Ukraine is one of the important elements of bilateral relations.
According to AzerNEWS, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov made this statement during a joint press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha.
"Speaking about energy cooperation, I would first like to note that SOCAR, Azerbaijan’s state oil company, has been present in the Ukrainian market for many years. Currently, SOCAR continues its active operations in Ukraine, and we believe that the company has significant plans for the future," Bayramov said.
The minister noted that Azerbaijan and Ukraine have held dynamic and active discussions on cooperation in the energy sector, including new momentum between delegations and counterparts, as well as additional areas of cooperation in the energy field.
Jeyhun Bayramov stated that Azerbaijan currently supplies gas to 16 countries around the world, including 12 European countries, 10 of which are members of the European Union.
"If necessary, we would be pleased to supply gas to friendly Ukraine as well. At the same time, there is also an opportunity for broader cooperation between Azerbaijan and Ukraine in terms of ensuring the energy security of a wider region," Jeyhun Bayramov added.
