Artak Beglaryan's virtual "medals"

Former separatist “state minister” Artak Beglaryan has once again expressed gratitude to those involved in the 2016 conflict. However, it is important to note that this “defense” took place on territories that are internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan.

Framing the occupation of foreign lands as heroism is increasingly out of step with current international norms and discourse. While Beglaryan continues to acknowledge these events, the reality remains that the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan is recognized worldwide.

It is a moment to reaffirm that Karabakh is part of Azerbaijan, and that historical speeches or symbolic offices cannot change the facts recognized by the international community.
