On the hundredth anniversary, some Armenian opposition media
outlets reported that the National Security Service allegedly informed the
church leadership of plans to arrest or detain Garegin II, the Catholicos of
all Armenians.
These reports were accompanied by warnings about serious
threats to the nation and the church.
However, similar reports have appeared multiple times over
the past two months, and the Catholicos continues to carry out his duties
without interruption.
This naturally raises the question: is there any real
intention to detain him, or are these reports largely speculative?
Perhaps the rumors serve another purpose, and if so, it is
worth considering who benefits from spreading them.
