Azerbaijan elected as the member of Human Rights Commission of UNO

Yesterday the meeting of Human Rights Commission of Economical and Social Council of UNO was held.
In the meeting 15 new members were elected to the council. Azerbaijan is among the members such as USA, Japan and etc. our country will receive its responsibilities that will last three years on January 1, 2006. Voting was held in secret form. When the results were announced it became evident that, 31 votes were in the account of the candidacy of Azerbaijan and 23 in the account of Latvia, claiming to that post.

It must be mentioned that, Azerbaijan represents the countries of Eastern Europe in economical and Social Council of UNO since 2002. Economical and Social council is the second after the Security Council among six main organizations of UNO.
