OSCE Office in Baku held a round table on"Licensing and Issuing of Frequencies for TV and Radio in Azerbaijan" in the hotel "Europe" yesterday.
OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Opening Miklos Haraszti making a speech in the meeting   said that the main aim in licensing is to establish pluralism in the sphere of media. He reminded that the licensing is concerned to the ether in the whole world; mass media is free from this process.

Head of the Socio-Political Department, Office of the President Ali Hasanov emphasized that pluralism is a part of social life. Stating the impossibility of imagining the modern life without mass media and electronic means, the head of the department reminded that the first step on this sphere was taken first in 1998 by abolishment of censorship.

He also said that Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies is establishing a digital system as a result of it will be possible to know which frequencies exist. Representative of National TV and Radio Council Sadraddin Iskandarov complained that the organization he represents has no right to issue a license, stressed the importance of eliminating these shortcomings.
