“The spirit of Budo – the history of Japan`s matrial art” in Baku

An exhibition “The spirit of Budo – the history of Japan`s martial art” organized by Azerbaijan`s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Embassy of Japan in Azerbaijan and the Japan Foundation opened in the National Art Museum in Baku.

The Japanese ambassador to Azerbaijan Shusuke Watanabe said this exhibition is timed to the 20th anniversary of establishment of the diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Japan. Mr. Watanabe expressed his gratitude to the government of Azerbaijan for rendering assistance to Japan after the last year earthquake. Azerbaijan`s minister of culture and tourism Abulfaz Garayev stressed the significance of the exhibition.

The exhibition shows the brief history of Japanese martial arts – from battlefield combat techniques (Bujutsu) to popular sports or physical exercise tempering body and spirit (Budo), through reproductions / originals of historical weapons such as arrows, suits of armor, etc. as well as through materials and photo panels of popular sports and physical exercise such as Kendô, Judô and Sumô, etc. The artmobile exhibition be open during a month.
