Baku to host Azerbaijan Investors' Summit

Baku will host the Azerbaijan Investors' Summit 2011 on March 2-3. Azerbaijani high-ranking officials, as well as representatives of large Azerbaijani and international institutions are expected to attend the two-day event. The Summit will be organized with the support of the Azerbaijani Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) and Euroconvention Global Conferences. AMCHAM will be the main sponsor.

The investment and business opportunities in the South Caucasus and the Caspian region, the issues of banking and financial services, alternative energy markets, the main business opportunities in agriculture and the development of food production will be the main topics of the first day of the summit. The head of the EU office in Azerbaijan, ambassador Roland Kobia, vice president of the Austrian-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce, the head of the EBRD office in Baku, the president of Baku Stock Exchange, the chairman of the Azerbaijani Central Bank, Azerbaijani Minister of Industry and Energy, Deputy Minister of Agriculture will speak during the event.

The second day of the summit will focus on the telecommunications and information technologies to attract foreign direct investments, funds and investments in Azerbaijan's infrastructure boom. Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Communications and IT, Deputy Transport Minister, head of the Society of Appraisers will deliver reports.

According to the organizers, Azerbaijan continues intensive development. The government's priorities include further increasing the role of Azerbaijan as an energy provider, strengthening infrastructure, creating new jobs, developing non-oil sector of economy, as well as maintaining stability and prosperity in the region. Such development and policy create new opportunities for foreign investments and great interest in the region.
