Baku to host International monetary policy workshop

The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) and the Research Center of Central Banks of the Bank of England are conducting a joint workshop under the title "Monetary policy and operations, their mutual relationship with financial stability," the CBA said. The workshop continues through Thursday, Sept. 9 and aims to examine the relationship between monetary policy and financial stability, monetary policy and a transmission mechanism of monetary policy, financial bubbles and prudential management.

CBA deputy chairman Khagani Abdullayev said that Azerbaijan has successfully implemented preventive measures against the global economic crisis, but the post-crisis period has put new challenges before the world central banks.

"One of the primary tasks is to improve the design of monetary policy and macroeconomic efficiency of prudential management", Abdullayev said.

The workshop is designed for experienced professionals and mid-level management representing monetary policy and market operations. Representatives of central banks of Russia, Turkey, Georgia, Lithuania and Azerbaijan are attending the workshop.
