SOCAR chief meets Eni Vice-President

President of Azerbaijan State Oil Company (SOCAR) Rovnag Abdullayev has met senior vice-president of Italian Eni company Daniele de Giovanni.
Abdullayev highlighted the importance of the Baku-hosted 17th International Caspian Oil & Gas Exhibition, saying it would contribute to deepening cooperation between participating companies.

He praised level of cooperation between Azerbaijani and Italian firms.
Eni's official said his company is a leader in Europe on gas marketing sphere. He hailed the role of the Caspian region in contributing to ensuring the energy security of Europe.

The SOCAR president spoke about energy projects implemented in Azerbaijan. He said Azerbaijan supports South Stream project intending transportation of energy suppliers to European Union. Giovanni suggested that Azerbaijani state oil company take part in exporting compressed natural gas from Turkmenistan to Europe.Italian ambassador to Azerbaijan Mario Corco Stefano was present at the meeting.
