Presently, Azerbaijani entrepreneurs are able to export their products on preferential terms to Canada, Japan, Turkey, Norway, Switzerland and the United States under the GSP + program of the European Union, the Azerbaijani Economic Development Ministry reported.
Under the program, the ministry conducts a series of seminars in the region to present the features of the GSP + program. Mingechevir hosted a regular seminar on "Export Possibilities of Azerbaijani Entrepreneurs on a Preferential Basis to the EU" April 26.
The seminar was organized for entrepreneurs of the Aran economic zone. The seminar presented the importance of connecting to the program and the role of increased export opportunities.
The ministry launched similar workshops in Baku and the country's regions in 2009. Azerbaijan has access to the EU GSP + preferences system since January 2009.
Joining the program allows Azerbaijani entrepreneurs to export goods to the EU on preferential terms, which significantly expands the country's export potential.
In the first quarter of 2010, 2,154 certificates of origin were issued on goods exported from the country, including 223 products exported to the countries included in the Generalized System of Preferences GSP.
