Dredging work on SOCAR's Black Sea Terminal to continue in April

In April, dredging work on the Georgian Black Sea terminal of Kulevi, which is owned by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), will be continued in April, the terminal reported.

Black Sea Terminal Ltd. has been exploited for development of approach channel and inside water area of Kulevi port. Technical features of "Marian B" fully answer requirements necessary for development and maintenance of depth for tankers with DWT 100 000 t.

Dredger "Marian B" is at Sevastopol Shipyard for repair and modernization works from December, 2009.

Currently a big work scope is done there including dock works. Suction pipes and chains of bottom gates have been changed already.

Major repair of main and auxiliary engines, generators, hydraulics, maneuvering propulsion device, control system and automatics is being carried as well. New hydrograghic equipment and safety navigation system are being installed at the moment.

The mentioned vessel is a self-propelled and self-dumping dredger with length - 77.7 m, width - 12.9 m, maximum draft - 6.2 m, the hold with capacity 1700 m3 is equipped with two suction pipes with excavating depth - 16 m and performance - 1600 m3 per hour.

The dredger is expected back to Kulevi in April, 2010.
