Tax revenues from Azerbaijan’s non-oil sector increased by 3.1 percent in 2009

Azerbaijani Tax Ministry has announced revenue of 4.114 billion manats in 2009, the ministry's official newspaper said.
Tax revenues to the public budget from the non-oil sector were 2.327 billion manats in 2009 compared to 2.2567 billion in 2008. The amount has increased with 70.2 million manats or with 3.1 percent compared to 2008.

"Growth observed in the non-oil sector had an influence on the structure of tax revenues. The growth of tax revenues was reached through activities to promote development of the non-oil sector and by increasing the private sector's role," the statement said.

Deducting tax payments done by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan, tax payments to the state budget done by subcontractors, the public sector and private enterprises were 1.2342 billion manats, which is 0.2 percent or 2.8 million manats more than in 2008.

About 28.3 percent of total tax revenues from the non-oil sector in 2009 came from the industrial sector; 9.7 percent from communications, 13.9 percent from construction, 4.2 percent from transport, 0.5 percent from agriculture, 26.2 percent from trade and services, 5.4 percent from banking and insurance and 11.8 percent from other areas.
