Next week, the Baku Metro will receive five new carriages made at the Russian Metrovagonmash OJSC, a source at the Baku Metro said.

"The carriages are already on way, they will arrive in Baku on Saturday or Sunday," said a source.
Recently, the Metro received 10 new carriages of Russian production. Two new set of carriages will be launched on Sept. 15.
The Baku Metro plans to buy 15 cars produced by the Metrovagonmash OJSC in 2009.
The Baku Metro purchased 35 carriages in 2008 and 25 carriages in 2007.
The Mytishinskiy Plant Metrovagonmash supplies rolling stock for the Baku metro for over 30 years. The carriages, produced at the plant near Moscow, constitute about 80 percent of its fleet.
The Baku Metro has been functioning since 1967.
