The report on the situation with the protection of copyrights, compiled by Association for Business Software Alliance (BSA) is a very important document, which has a sizeable impact on world business processes, said corporate manager of Microsoft Azerbaijan Eldar Jahangirov.

According to him, the BSA report affects the investment solutions, budgeting of funds and consequently, the world is used to to pay attention to the statistics contained therein.

"In line with the document, the world's overall piracy rate is 41%, and the damage from the use of unlicensed products is estimated at 53 billion dollars. I also want to share an interesting observation: the world financial crisis had an ambiguous influence on the piracy rate - in many countries, the purchasing capacity of citizens and companies fell down, and this led to an increase in the piracy rate", noted Jahangirov.

According to him, the effect was quite opposite in the countries with deep traditions of respect to authorship. It led to the more effective type of economy - the demand for safe, reliable, that is, legal production, has grown.

As for the situation in this sphere in Azerbaijan, he said it has been improving on average by 2% per year.

"Even though we are on the sixth place (90%) in the world, this is quite an encouraging trend. For comparison, the three countries with the worst performance are Georgia (95%), Bangladesh (92%) and Armenia (92%).
