Terminal Expansion Programme (STEP) is being realized in Azerbaijan at full stretch.

BP Azerbaijan reports that at Sangachal work is currently focused on completion and commissioning of the produced water facilities as part of the STEP.
“In 2008 we finalised the design, delivered the required equipment to Baku and completed the early phases –1-3 - of the project. Phase 4 was handed over to operations in February this year with Phase 5 well under way to be operational this summer or in early 3rd quarter of 2009,” the Company says.
Other current activities at STEP include the installation of a new Gas Dew Point Control Unit (DPCU2) for ACG associated gas. The process modules for this facility were constructed in Singapore and were delivered to Baku by ship in 2008. Installation of the modules on the foundations was also completed in 2008 with the mechanical completion of DPCU2 completed in the first quarter of 2009.
“Commissioning has already started with start-up and hand over planned for end of the second quarter of 2009,” it was reported.
Along with these two major projects there are other ongoing activities on the gas line packing capability, H2S (Hydrogen Sulphate) removal facilities, an additional 7th oil heater, air drying and compression systems upgrades and open water drains project. All of these projects are completed and being handed over once commissioned to operations during the first and second quarters of 2009.
