Washington hopes for the further development of a dialogue between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, said assistant US secretary of state Georgia Crowl in his speech at the international conference "Reliable and stable transit of energy sources and its role in ensuring stable development and international cooperation" in Ashkhabad.
He said the Caspian sea has a great potential for the development of regional energy cooperation.
"The United States have already assisted in creation of the BTC and South Caucasus pipeline for withdrawing the energy sources from the Caspian basin to the markets. Kazakhstan is already supplying significant volumes of oil via Azerbaijan to the world markets. We hope that these trade contacts will expand and we encourage the developing dialogue between Azerbaijan and organizer of the conference -Turkmenistan", said Crowl.
The assistant secretary of state noted that free market mechanisms are a key factor in the assimilation of world energy sources, stressing the need to use the experience and qualifications of international energy companies in this direction.
