06 March 2009 [16:46] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijan is ranking fourth among the CIS and Baltic states by the minimal pension, according to chairman of the State Fund of Social Protection of Azerbaijan Salim Muslimov, reports Novosti-Azerbaijan.
"Estonia is ranking first with minimal pension making $170, Lithuania is second with $136, Kazakhstan is third with $101, Azerbaijan is fourth with $93.2", he told a press conference Friday.

According to Muslimov, minimal pension made $50.66 in Russia and $68 with compensations.

"This information is as of February 1 of 2009", added he.
Head of the fund noted that minimal pension in Georgia made $33, in Belarus 67, in Ukraine 70, in Moldova 45, in Uzbekistann 40, in Armenia 26.2, in Latvia 92, in Tajikistan 16, in Kyrgyzstan 13.

In late 2008 Muslimov said that Azerbaijan is ranking second among the CIS states for minimal pension.

"Currently, most countries experience decline in the living conditions of the population, which is connected with deepening of the global economic crisis. Azerbaijan almost does not feel the influence of the crisis", said he during the conference "2008 presidential elections: new development prospects", organized by the Yeni Azerbaijan ruling party.

He said this is a result of measures, adopted by the president and his economic team in time.
