In 2008 Azerbaijan conducted import and export transactions with 140 countries of a total of $54.9 bln, said sources from the State Statistical Committee.

Of this amount $47.7 bln (87%) fell on export and $7.2 bln (13%) on import. The positive balance made $40.5 bln.
The external commodity turnover grew 4.7 times as compared to 2007.
In the import and export transactions 25.8% fell on EU, 7.2% on CIS and 40% on other countries.
A greater part of external trade transactions (80.8%) fell on Italy, United States, Israel, India, France, Russia, Spain, Netherlands, Turkey, Indonesia. Great Britain and China.
