President of Azerbaijan attends special session on "Oil and gas geopolitics - a map in transition" in the framework of Davos economic forum

The meeting attended by President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, representatives of the European Union and world`s energy giants ENI, Total, Exxon/Mobil, StatoilHydro dealt with regulation of oil production, energy giants` increasing interests on Russia and Mid-East, future changes in the energy field.

Speakers praised Azerbaijan`s stance on the energy cooperation and stressed Azerbaijan`s role and importance in diversification of energy supplies and Europe`s energy security.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev expressed his opinion on the issues discussed, highlighted the importance of international energy cooperation and told of Azerbaijan`s accomplishments in the energy field and country`s increasing role in the world.

Given Azerbaijan`s growing economy and its active integration into the global economy, emerging markets, participation in such an important event will be fruitful for the country playing a role of a regional leader.

More than 2,500 participants from almost 100 countries have flocked to the event this year, including a record 41 heads of state or government, representatives of major companies, economists, experts, heads of international organizations, media. The World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2009 is one of the most important events in the Forum`s history.
