22 January 2009 [12:17] - TODAY.AZ
The decision of the Russian government to ban attraction of foreigners to retail trade will influence on our citizens, if there are engaged in labor activity, contradicting to these rules, said Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Azerbaijan Fizuli Alekperov.
He said it is an internal affair of every country.

"You know we also have well known norms and rules against street trade. It is incorrect to conduct trade in the street on their basis", said the Minister.

He noted that not most of our compatriots will have to return to Azerbaijan, losing their job in the result of the decision of the Russian government.

"Such thoughts were proposed earlier when two years ago Russia adopted similar decisions about restrictions in the trade area, but these concerns did not come true".

As for the statement that foreign labor migrants do not hurry to return to Russia after New Year, he said this is because Russia, like the whole world, is sustaining the global economic crisis.

"Perhaps, our compatriots acted in a definite economic spheres, where staff reduction takes place. Sometimes staff reduction becomes the result of attainment of greater effectiveness in conducting business.

For this reason, perhaps, a definite part of our compatriots, will return back. But these people have definite potential. We have already recorded opening of new jobs in villages, which has never been fixed before", said Alekperov.

"So our labor migrants, returning from abroad, will not stay idle here. Upon return to the country they are being hired and start labor activity. One person, returning from Russia, ensures job for at least 5-10 people. The number of appeals to our employment office in the region is growing. The demand is especially high on mechanizers, veterinarians and others. The demand for this staff is growing.

It means that on the one hand, people, working in megaolis - Baku, but coming from the regions of the country, change their mind and return to agriculture, on the other hand, the aforementioned compatriots, returning from Russia to the country not as employees, but as employers, contribute to the development of Azerbaijani economy", concluded the minister.
