SOCAR Energy Georgia (affiliate of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) and the government of Georgia signed a contract due to the purchase of the gas distribution companies.

The contract was signed by Georgian Economy Minister Lascha Zhvania and president of SOCAR-Azerbaijan Rovnag Abdullayev.
In line with the agreement SOCAR Energy Georgia will get 22 regional gas distribution companies. They are in Kakheti, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Shida and Kvemo Kartli, Ajaria, Guria, Imereti, Samegrelo.
Under existing agreement, SOCAR Energy Georgie undertakes to provide gas to 15,000 consumers in the regions of Georgia within three years and invest $40 mln to the development of this sphere. The amount of the deal is not specified, as it is a confidential information.
Abdullayev voiced satisfaction with the fruitful work with the Georgian side.
"We undertake to fulfill the assumed functions and moreover provide gas to 300,000 consumers in three years", noted he.
After the signing the SOCAR president and the Minister left for Borzhomi where they are going to familiarize with the gas distribution system.
