BTC pipeline transports 500,000,000 oil barrels

500,000,000 barrels of Azerbaijani oil were exported from the Ceyhan port to the world market.
Day.Az reports with reference to Turkish Cihan news agency that the due announcement was made by director general and chairman of Bitas International Limited (Turkish operator of the BTC pipeline) Salih Pashaoghlu.

He said Italy gets higher volumes of oil from among the European countries. He said that for the fulfilled activity Botas International Limited is awarded with international certificates ISO 14001 (system of ecological management) and OHSAS 18001 (system of regulation of health and safety protection).

It should be noted that the BTC pipeline extends to 1,768 kilometers with 443 kilometers in Azerbaijan, 249 kilometers in Georgia and 1,076 kilometers in Turkey. The daily transportation capacity of the pipeline is 1,000,000 barrel. Crude oil passes from one end of the pipeline to the other for 10 years. The pipeline construction started in April of 2003, while its filling with oil on May 18 of 2005. Oil reached the Georgian section of the pipeline on August 10 of 2005, Turkish section on November 18 of 2005, Ceyhan terminal on May 28 of 2006.

On June 4 of 2006 the first tanker load of Azerbaijani oil was sent to Europe from the Ceyhan pipeline and the ceremony of the pipeline opening was held on June 13 of 2006.

The pipeline shareholders are BP (30.1%); AzBTC (25%); Chevron (8.90%); Statoil (8.71%); ТРАО (6.53%); ENI (5%); Total (5%); Itochu (3.40%); INPEX (2.50%); ConocoPhillips (2.50%) and Amerada Hess (2.36%).
