07 November 2008 [14:36] - TODAY.AZ
In 2007 Georgia may get less gas from Russia owing the possible opening of Iran-Armenia gas pipeline in November, said Georgian energy minister Alexander Khetaguri.
Moreover, noted the Minister, Georgia gets definite volume of gas for transit of gas via its territory from Russia to Armenia.

The Minister also assured that the cost of natural gas and power for the Georgian population will not change.

Under the report, prepared by Transparency International Georgia, this year Azerbaijan will receive 1,500,000 cubic meters of natural gas.

Moreover, Georgia receives 1,000,000 cubic meters of natural gas from Shah Deniz consortium per day.

In this view, Azerbaijan will supply Georgia with 500,000 cubic meters of natural gas and Shah Deniz consortium will provide 300,000 cubic meters.

Moreover Georgia received 200,000,000 cubic meters of natural gas from the transit of natural gas from Russia to Armenia via its territory in 2007, yet this year the said volume may reduce due to the expected opening of Iran-Armenia pipeline in November.

In 2007 Georgia consumer 1,750,000 cubic meters of natural gas with supplies from Russia making 60% and from Azerbaijan 40%. This year the balance may change in Azerbaijan's favor though insignificantly, says the report.
