Azerbaijan Institute of Standards has developed nearly 200 national standards over the past one and a half year, said Ramiz Hasanov, Chairman of the Azerbaijan State Agency for Standardization, Metrology and Patents.

According to him, national standards are developed on the basis for international standards.
He added that most of the foodstuffs produced in Azerbaijan come short of the required standards.
"In order to control the quality of food, we have opened a new laboratory in Baku. We also plan to establish such laboratories in Yevlax and in one of the northern regions", he noted.
He also said that the Institute of Standards is currently developing standards for national meals, confectionery products, etc.
