The event was attended by S. Korean ambassador to Azerbaijan, Lew Kwang-chul, representatives from 21 companies and Azerbaijani Economic Development Ministry Officer Samir Valiyev and some 50 businessmen.
Tofig Babayev, director of the Azerbaijan-Korea Electronic Trade Center, said this center will pave the way for further expansion of business relations between the two countries.
The ambassador said President Ilham Aliyev's visit to South Korea last month gave impetus to the bilateral cooperation and aroused businessmen's interest in Azerbaijan and establishment of an IT center.
Samir Valiyev added that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to the development of mutual relations, and establishment of the Azerbaijan-Korea Electronic Trade Center is very significant. He noted that Azerbaijan exported goods worth $ about 68 million and imported goods worth $46 million to S. Korea.
"Through this center, trade between the two countries will expand in IT sector, non-oil sector and spheres of the economy. This will enable Azeri companies to deliver information about their products to their counterparts in Korea electronically. We will use this precedent with other countries too," he added.
