State Labor Inspection to examine construction companies from tomorrow

State Labor Inspection under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection starts examinations in construction companies tomorrow, stated SLI chief Nebi Shukurlu.

He said the examination is aimed to study working conditions, security and medical inspection of workers in the enterprises. Besides the SLI officers, representatives of Economic Development Ministry, Confederation of Labor Unions and employers will take part in a-month examination. Considering the construction works are carried out at nights, SLI will make night raids as well.

He said if shortcomings are found in the companies, they will have month to fill the gaps. The companies that ignore the warning will be closed, APA reports.

The chief also informed of the accidents in the production industry last year. He said 246 accidents took place this year whereas the number was 220 in 2005. 160 or 65% of these accidents took place in Baku. 48% accidents were in industry, 22% in construction, 13% transportation and communication, and 17% in other fields of economy.

In result of accidents last year 81 people died and other 192 injured. 31 people died in construction. Accidents mostly caused by injury (89 cases) and fall dawn (40 cases). Fatal accidents were caused by electricity shocks (19 cases), injury (18 cases) and fall down (16 cases).
