Elmar Mammadyarov: If the basic principles are accepted, the work on peace treaty must be finished at short notice

06 June 2011 [15:31] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijani Minister of Foreign Affairs plans to discuss the issue on settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict with his French counterpart Alain Juppe in Paris. In his interview to Voice of America, Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said: "The negotiations have more intensive character currently. After the Kazan meeting of the presidents, I plan to visit Paris and discuss the issue on settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict".

The minister also added that Moscow will host trilateral meeting of Azerbaijani, Armenian and Russian presidents on June 11: "We will discuss the last proposals of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs at the meeting. If the presidents accept the proposals, it will be considered as the step forward".

Mammadyarov said that the uncoordinated moments were still remaining and the works continued on those moments: "But the coordination of basic principles doesn’t mean the achievement of peace treaty. One cannot permit to conduct work on peace treaty for 70 years after coordination of principles. If the basic principles are accepted, the work on peace treaty must be finished at short notice".
