Azerbaijani President receives Deputy Director of IMF`s Department - PHOTO

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today received Juha Kahkonen , deputy director of the International Monetary Fund`s (IMF) Middle East and Central Asia Department.

Kahkonen said the IMF was interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan. He noted Azerbaijan was one of the most rapidly developing countries in the world for economic growth. Kähkönen underlined the importance of development of non-oil sector in Azerbaijan.

President Ilham Aliyev said lots of work had been done in Azerbaijan to decrease the dependence of economy on oil-gas sector. The President noted non-oil sector grew by 10 percent last year describing this as a result of the implementation of successful programs in ICT, industry, agriculture and other spheres.

They also exchanged views on prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and IMF.
