Flood in Shamakhi kills one

Heavy rains and runoff waters caused floods in some mountainous villages of Azerbaijan’s Shamakhi region.

The natural disaster damaged private houses, agricultural fields and roads. Chairman of the regional emergency commission Gasim Gasimov told APA that the level of Aghsu and Pirsaat rivers rose as a result of heavy rainfall accompanied by hail in Carham village of the region. One was killed. 22-year-old resident of Ovculu village Almammadov Bilal Aghamustafa was killed by the flood while returning from pasturing. He was going to celebrate his wedding today.

The emergency forces are examining the disaster-affected areas now.
