I dream of reaching great heights in sports, I want to represent Azerbaijan at international competitions, winner of the silver medal in individual all-around at the 27th Baku Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship, representative of “Baku-Ojag” sports club Fatima Tarverdiyeva told Trend after the awards ceremony.
Gymnast won the silver medal in Championship in the age category "kids" among the participants born in 2014.
"My father wanted me to become an athlete. I learned a lot while doing gymnastics. Coaches say that I'm good at working with gymnastic subjects. I'm glad I won a medal at Championship, but I will train even more to achieve even better results," the young athlete said.
According to her, this is her first time on the carpet at National Gymnastics Arena in Azerbaijan’s Baku.
“I am performing in National Gymnastics Arena for the first time, the competitions are well organized, there are many spectators, the atmosphere is friendly, it is a pleasure to perform here. It is a great honor for me to compete in the hall where world-famous gymnasts performed,” Tarverdiyeva said.
The twenty-seventh Baku Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship is being held at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku from May 3 through May 4.
In total, 186 gymnasts representing nine clubs, including 123 individual and 63 group gymnasts (14 groups) participate in the Championships. The winners in the team standings will also be determined at the competitions. Athletes will compete in the individual program in the age categories of youngsters (born in 2012, 2013, 2014), pre-juniors (born in 2010-2011), juniors (2007-2009), while gymnasts within group exercises will compete in the age categories of youngsters (born in 2012-2014) and pre-juniors (2010-2011).
Gymnasts compete in the all-around both in the individual program and in group exercises.
