The 2017 World Taekwondo Championships (WTF) will be held in Muju in South Korea .

The town, located in the tourist district of Jeolla Province, was awarded the Championships at a meeting of the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) Executive Council ahead of Samsun in Turkey.

Azerbaijani delegation has already arrived in Korea

Azerbaijan’s squad includes 12 teakwood fighters: Gazim Magomedov (54 kg), Pizam Mekhdiyev (58 kg), Mahammad Mammadov (63 kg), Aykhan Tagizade (68 kg), Sina Bahrami (74 kg) Milad Beigi Harchegani (80 kg), Ramin Azizov (87 kg) and Radik Isayev (+87 kg) and Safie Polat, Patimat Abakarova (both 49 kg), Yarpak Erik (57 kg) and Farida Azizova (67 kg), azerisport.com reported.

Taekwondo is one of the most popular sports in Azerbaijan.

The National Taekwondo Federation has trained many prominent athletes since its founding in 1992. Many of those athletes now enjoy international recognition.

The Federation’s training facility houses new, state-of-the-art training equipment and has a proud history of bringing up more than 500 black belt recipients and athletes.
