Uruguayan President Jose 'Pepe' Mujica has labelled FIFA "a bunch of old sons of bitches" in his latest attack on world football's governing body.

In a video uploaded to YouTube by journalist Sergio Gorzy, Mujica can be seen clasping his hand to his mouth in faux shock at what he's just said, before dismissively declaring "publish it."

The 73-year-old also called Luis Suarez's punishment "fascist" as he prepared to welcome back the Uruguay squad returning from Brazil after their elimination at the hands of Colombia.

In what may be seen as an unnecessary ramping up of tensions between the Rioplatense nation and FIFA, Mujica is risking damaging his country's chances of hosting the 2030 World Cup final at Montevideo's El Centenario Stadium.

The centenary edition of international football's premier competition is widely expected to be co-hosted by Argentina and Uruguay as a nod to the first-ever tournament in 1930, but the continued attacks on the footballing authorities are threatening Uruguay's relationship with Fifa.
