Atletico Madrid and Galatasaray will play a pre-season friendly and all of the proceeds will go to the victims of the Soma mining disaster.

At least 282 coal miners were killed in a mine in the western Turkish province of Manisa’s Soma district.

The Soma disaster, is the worst mining accident in Turkey's history.

Atletico Madrid star Arda Turan extended his condolences for the victims of Soma in a statement. “I want to express my condolences for the families of people who lost their lives in Soma.”

"There aren't words any words which can explain just how terrible this tragedy was.”
Atletico Madrid are expected to wear a pre-game t-shirt dedicated to the victims of Soma ahead of their clash with Barcelona on the weekend.

The La Liga outfit also posted the following message on their Twitter account: “We join the grief of the victims’ families of Soma’s mining accident in Turkey. Our support to all the Turkish people.”

Liverpool, Porto, Schalke, Sheffield United and Barcelona joined the list of foreign clubs expressing sorrow about the mining tragedy.
