Reigning world chess champion and the No. 1 ranked player in the world, Norwegian Magnus Carlsen, has won Shamkir 2014 tournament that commemorated Azerbaijani grandmaster Vugar Hashimov.
Carlsen, 24, secured the title after defeating his main rival Italian Fabiano Caruano in the final 10th round in the Group A.
The Norwegian, who played with whites, sealed his win on the 49th move.
