Barcelona has paid €13.5 million to the Spanish tax authorities instead of the €9.1 million payment it had planned to make. The 'Azulgranas' stumped up this increased rate as a preventative fee, to cover the possibility that it would be found guilty of possible charges of tax evasion as a result of not paying 25% taxes on all fees paid to companies involved in Neymar's transfer.

The FC Barcelona board of directors met on Sunday at the club offices, and unanimously came to the following agreements:

1.- Deny that the club had committed tax fraud in relation to obligations associated with signing the player.

2.- Continue working as closely as possible with the courts to clear up the events that are being investigated.

3.- Appear at the legal proceedings currently underway in order to defend the club and its members.

4.- Maintain that FC Barcelona has always complied with its tax obligations as regards timing and form of payment, and that it has always worked, during this full compliance, as close as it possibly could with the Spanish Tax Authorities.

5.- Underline its conviction that, with regards to the signing of the Brazilian, the club has complied scrupulously with its tax obligations.

6.- To cover any possible tax debt incurred from this transfer, FC Barcelona has proceeded to perform a self-determined voluntary complementary tax payment. This voluntary payment has a total value of €13,550,830.56.

7.- This voluntary payment, presented on time and following the correct procedures, is understood to have occurred in such a way that it does not prejudice the possibility of the total tax debt to be definitively established by the competent tax authorities.
