Azerbaijan's gymnasts delivered brilliant performances at the Baltic Hoop-2013 international rhythmic gymnastics tournament held in Latvia's capital, Riga, on April 13-14.

According to the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, the Azerbaijani team scooped 7 medals at the tournament. Young gymnast Marina Durunda, who demonstrated an amazing program in the all-around competition and in an exercise with hoops on the second day of the tournament, won two gold medals.

The Azerbaijani gymnast did not confine to bringing home gold medals, as in the finals with clubs she took silver, as well as bronze in the hoop and ball exercise.

Her teammate Lala Yusifova also brought gold to Baku after sealing a win in the exercise with the ball.

Also, Azerbaijan's junior gymnastics team comprising Gulsum Shafizada, Nilufar Niftaliyeva, Sabina Hummatova, Emilya Bagiyeva and Aynur Mustafayeva, who recently won bronze medals at the international competition held within the framework of another World Cup series in Lisbon, was victorious this time.

Coach of the national team Mariana Vasileva said that besides medals, the girls were also winners in various nominations. Thus, Yusifova received two prizes, having been named Miss Sympathy of Riga's artists and the sponsor of the tournament (a toy store), and Durunda also won a prize from the artists of the Latvian capital.

Vasileva said that this week Yusifova and Durunda will travel to Bucharest where they will take part in the World Cup.
