Poverty level in Azerbaijan within the past 20 years has feel from 67% to 9%, level of unemployment – 17% to 5.7%, Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Population Fuzuli Alakbarov said.
To him, 930,000 new work places were opened in Azerbaijan since 2003.
“Our main purpose is to draw people from the poverty. Unfortunately, it is impossible to do it hundred-per-cent. Because some people can not work regardless of themselves. That is why, the state has special social programs. These are - pension systems, targeted social assistances. These programs are realized in order to improve material well-being of people from concrete categories”, said the minister.
