The Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan has finished negotiations with the companies who will be rendering satellite launching services for it.
Communication Minister Ali Abbasov said that all the comments on the launch of AzerSpace, national telecommunications satellite of Azerbaijan have been gathered.
“A general contract for AzerSpace Project will be signed on April 15,” the minister said.
The Ministry plans launching of the national satellite in June 2011.
Satellite producer is US company Orbital.
It was stated earlier that the main condition of the contract with Orbital is to organize training courses for Azerbaijani specialists in the United States and surveillance over satellite production.
President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan approved the state program on establishment and development of space adopted on basis of the decree On Establishment of Space Industry and Placing Telecommunications Satellites in Orbit issued in 2008.
