Azerbaijan will continue to pursue policy of supporting national press, Head of Presidential Administration's Socio-Political Department Ali Hasanov said at a awarding ceremony of the winners of a journalistic competition announced by the State Support for Media Development Fund under the Azerbaijani President.
"This year, necessary funds will be allocated to improve material and technical base of the press," Hasanov said.
According to the Presidential Administration representative, the competition boosts freedom of expression and individual creativity of journalists.
According to the fund's head Vugar Safarli, about 49 artciles were submitted to the competition announced on Jan. 19 on seven trends.
Some 15 winners were selected.
In April, the Fund will announce a new competition in connection with the 135th anniversary of the National Press, Safarov said.
