There are 1,150 twins and 30 triplets among the newborns

Over the first 5 months this year, 67,300 children were born in Azerbaijan. On average, that is 445 babies per day.

This figure is equal to 17,3 babies per 1,000 people, The State Statistical Committee told APA.

The newborns are 53,6% male, 46,4% female. 1,150 children were born twins, 30 triplets. The life expectancy for the new born babies is 74,2 years—71,6 for the male, 76,8 for the female.

Another ratio is 2,2 children per women capable of giving birth throughout their lifetime. This ensures reproduction of the country’s population.

Since the beginning of the year, 24,4 deathes have been recorded. Compared to the relevant period of the past year, the number of death cases per 1,000 persons remains unchanged (6,3). Relevant authorities have recorded 30,900 marriages, 5,000 divorcements from January to May 2014. Compared to the same period of 2013, the numbers of marriages and divorcements remain unchanged—7,9 and 1,3 respectively.
