The Azerbaijani border guards have arrested 148 wanted criminals in April. The detainees were handed over to law enforcement agencies, the State Border Service (SBS) told Trend on Monday.
Last month, in 27 cases the state border was violated, resulting in arrests of 33 people. Of these, 23 are citizens of Azerbaijan, three - citizens of Georgia, three - citizens of Uzbekistan, two- citizens of Bangladesh, one citizen of Moldova and one UK national.
In 17 cases of violations of the border regime 32 people were detained, during a violation of the coastal regime in the Caspian Sea in the 43 cases 80 people were detained. Appropriate measures were taken in respect of them.
As a result of measures to combat drug trafficking, in April in five cases, an attempt to export across the state border 1.472 kg of drugs was foiled.
SBS Coast Guard inspected two ships and 69 boats belonging to Azerbaijan.
Some 43,000 meters of fishing nets, 8,750 fishing hooks, five boats, three engines, etc. were found and confiscated in the sea.
In April, the border guards detained in 71 cases smuggling worth more than 463,648 manat.
