The U.S. policy in Turkey, Turkish world including Eurasia and Caucasus, as well as the US-Turkish relations are on the agenda of the American-Turkish Council organized 29th annual conference on American-Turkish relations started October 17 in Washington DC.

The conference with a subhead “Achieving common objectives” is held October 17-20. According to the CeO and the director of the American-Turkish Council Jim Holmes, annually the conference is held in spring, but this spring due to the US Congress’ discussion on the 1915 events and Turkey’s harsh reaction, the conference has been rescheduled.

The finally scheduled conference is going to cover various issues, such as the new trends and the traditional flow of the US-Turkish relations, the 1915 events and the way they are discussed in US, the trade issues and possibilities to make them easier, the US-European Union dialog, the Cyprus, energy routes and infrastructure, banking and finance in the region, Turkey’s role in the Nagorno-Karabakh negotiations, and Turkey’s role as a peacekeeper in the region, Turkey as NATO member, defense and operations, future perspectives and trends, problems and successes, as well as many other issues.

Prominent US and Turkish experts, also top-officials, including the US Defense Minister Robert Gates, Turkish ministers Ali Babajan, Zafer Chaghlayan and others will attend the conference and deliver speeches.
