Researchers at the Technical and Vocational University of Tabriz in Iran, have developed an advanced reconnaissance drone, which can fly for 45 minutes at a 1750-meter altitude.
The UAV is capable of taking photos while flying and sending them online to the control center, Iran's official IRNA news agency reported on May 29.
The drone has speed of 250 kilometres/hour and can hide itself from being targeted by the ballistic and cruise missiles, according to the report.
The price of the similar foreign drones reaches $36 million, IRNA quoted Samad Samadani, the head of Iran's Technical and Vocational Universities as saying.
The Iranian drone also benefits a smart control system which makes it able to return to its primary runway, if the operators lose control over the drone's.
Iran unveiled its first domestically manufactured long-range combat drone, the Karrar (Striker), on August 23, 2010. It reportedly has a range of 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) and can carry two 115-kilogram bombs or precision-guided munitions weighing 227 kilograms.
The first Iranian medium-altitude long-endurance unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), the Shahed-129 (Witness-129), was unveiled in September 2012, which is capable of carrying out combat and reconnaissance missions for 24 hours.
In September 2013, the Iranian Army Ground Forces unveiled a domestically designed and built combat drone, dubbed Yasir, which can fly at an altitude of 15000 feet, has a flight endurance of eight hours and effective operational radius of 200 kilometers.
