As of 2013, inflation was 5.6 percent in Armenia, according to the report on Armenia's state budget-2013, news.am. website reported on May 26.

Inflation was mainly caused by an increase in utility rates (9.7 percent). Inflation for food amounted to 4 percent, non-food items - 3.5 percent.

The electricity and gas tariffs have increased in Armenia since July 7 in connection with an increase in price on natural gas imported from Russia (up to $ 189 per 1,000 cubic meters). According to the Armenian National Statistics Service, gas, electricity and gas-filling stations together make up 11.26 percent of the consumer basket.
