Turkey has started exporting oil from northern Iraq to the international markets, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz was quoted on May 23 by TRT Haber channel as saying.

"Oil pumping to Ceyhan began last night," he added. "The first million barrels of oil must be pumped today."

Yildiz said on January 3, 2014 that Kurdish autonomy in northern Iraq began supplying oil to Turkey, but this oil will not be supplied to the European market without Baghdad's consent.
