Georgia will do everything to become the 29th EU member, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said in Brussels during the reception on the country's national independence day on May 22.

"Georgia was one of the first democratic republics, which was founded in 1918," he added.

"Georgia is sure that it will not be free with the help of weapons," Garibashvili stressed. "This must be done in terms of democracy and security."

The reception was held at the Royal Library in Brussels with members of the Belgian government and European diplomats in attendance.
