The Istanbul-Ankara high-speed railroad in Turkey will be commissioned in mid-May, 2014, Turkish Anadolu agency quoted Lufti Elvan, the country's Minister of Transport, Maritime and Communication, as saying on April 30.

The minister added that the final preparatory work on commissioning the railroad is underway.

The Istanbul-Ankara high-speed railroad will be 533 kilometers in length. It will be connected to the Marmaray railway tunnel that connects Turkey's eastern and European parts.

The railroad's construction began in 2009.

The project's cost is $4 billion.
